Robert is an award-winning filmmaker and writer. Whilst teaching screenwriting at the University of Brighton he has steadily been building a career as a filmmaker. He has made several short films, which have screened internationally and won awards from Prequel to Cannes, Brighton Festival, and was a finalist for BBC New Talent. Robert’s interest in marrying personal stories with marketability, and pain with the humour of family relationships, is an ongoing theme in his short films, feature length screenplays, and plays.
Robert has written several feature length screenplays, short film scripts, and has written plays for theatre and radio. In December 2016, Robert was commissioned to write his first short play, Aroma, for the Pensive Federation, which was performed at The Tristan Bates Theatre in Convent Garden, London. Robert’s second play, Overcast was commissioned in March 2017 and performed at The Vaults theatre in Waterloo, London. He will make his full-length play debut later this year working with The Pensive Federation theatre company. Several of his short film script have won awards.
Robert was awarded a scholarship for "Significant Achievement in Screenwriting" to complete a Masters in Screenwriting and Producing Film and Television at the University of Westminster in 2009. Robert was awarded a First-Class Masters in Film Studies in 2001, and a BA (Hons) in Film Studies in 2000 by the University of Kent.
Robert lives in London with his sleep deprived partner, and their constantly awake baby daughter, Greta.
